A Nutritionally Balanced Menu
We are proud to offer a nutrition and meal service programme called Nourish – “Thriving minds, active bodies, nurtured hearts”. A slogan we hold close to our hearts, we believe that through nourishing food, children are fuelled to thrive physically and mentally, whilst enjoying the benefits of coming together and connecting as a group at mealtimes.
Mealtimes are calm, fun, social and children are encouraged to develop table manners and independent skills in serving food
by being encouraged to regulate their own portions and clean up after meals.
Our Nourish menus encompass seasonal (Summer and Winter) 4 – week rotating menu, with a wide variety of nourishing meals for the children at our centre. These recipes are dietitian approved, and have been thoughtfully designed using the NZ Heart Foundation’s, Healthy Heart – Gold Award for Early Childhood Centres which is in line with the NZ Food & Nutrition Guidelines and the Ministry of Health (MOH) Healthy Eating for babies, toddlers and children.
We are fortunate to have our very own centre cook 5 days a week who prepares our meals for all of our enrolled children within our centre; morning-tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late snack. Friday’s are also known as lunch box day, a day that our tamariki look forward to, on Friday where we support children with the skills required when eating from a lunchbox.
Curious about what your child is eating? Ask us for a copy of today’s menu.
Playball & Yoga
We offer Playball and Yoga. Playball is specialised sport coaching programme for preschoolers. While our Yoga programme run by Cheryl from Octopus Yoga NZ, aims to strengthen balance, flexibility and stamina that brings a positive change in mood and attitude, increased energy levels and the ability to focus. Both programmes are held at the centre once per week for a small charge.
Because it is more important for young children to learn confidence and how to play well with others, the sessions are non-competitive and designed to provide all children with the opportunity to participate at their own level and have fun!
As well as with other forms of exercise, Playball and Yoga helps the tamariki to improve their physical health and general wellbeing. Children learn social skills such as cooperation, communication, listening, sharing, teamwork and sportsmanship. The sessions also promote life skills such as a having a balanced lifestyle, a positive attitude and increased self-esteem, increased confidence and motivation, focus and listening skills, fair play, independence, persistence and leadership.
To find out more visit www.playball.co.nz and talk to one of the teaching team on how to enrol your child in these weekly sessions.

be curious about who you are”

Connecting with our Community
Parents love the rich sense of community at Adventure Kids, and our curriculum reflects our philosophy for strong relationships. We absolutely love coming together with our tamariki, whānau and community to strengthen our relationships with one another.
At Adventure Kids we love to celebrate! Whether it be a national week, cultural celebration, a calendar date or a themed dress up day. Some of the events on our annual calendar include Chinese New Year, Seaweek – Kaupapa Moana, Saint Patrick’s Day, Samoan Language week, Matariki Maori New Year, Tongan Language Week and Diwali.
The location of our centre means we are within walking distance to The Adventure Park. Our team have built great relationships with the team at The Adventure Park, meaning we take the children here for regular excursions. Our visits provide exciting learning opportunities for our children, with so much to look at and see. If you would like to know more about how our excursions work or how you can attend, please speak any of our teachers to find out more.
We are also fortunate enough to have the local mobile library bus visit us once a fortnight, when we are able to take small groups of children to explore a unique environment whilst also supporting a love of reading and building a sense of community.
Portfolios & Storypark
We use an awesome app called Storypark, which allows whānau to follow their child’s early learning journey and to ensure you don’t miss out on important centre communications.
Photos, videos and audio capture your child’s learning so you never miss a treasured moment again. You and your family can also feel more engaged in your child’s development, and you decide who you would like to invite to experience your childs learning journey with you. A perfect way to share those special moments with loved ones down the line or overseas.
Although we love to use Storypark as an online platform to communicate with parents, we also use paper portfolios for each child.
Children enjoy finding their paper portfolio and reflecting on their past activities at the centre. It is a fantastic way for children to engage in self-recognition and reflect on their personal development, as well as being a treasured keepsake for their 21st Birthday!
